The NCPPA Christmas Project for this year will be a Food Drive.
Each year members volunteer for a project that we can be a part of and help give back to the communities in a positive way. We are asking for canned food or monetary donations. Food Boxes will be set up in your offices if your office chooses to participate for this project. $1 donation can provide enough food for 3 meals. Many of us are blessed to be able to put food on our tables but there are those that are not. Together, we can help make a difference so that a child doesn’t go hungry. We are asking challenging each person to bring 5 cans of food to donate to our food drive. The deadline is December 19 for donations and we will pick up canned items and weigh them to see which district collects the most canned items.
Many of the people served by food banks report they are struggling with unemployment, difficult choices between food and other basic necessities, and the pressures of healthcare costs.
Important data from the MANNA FoodBank study includes: (which serves Western NC)
106,600 different people in Western North Carolina seek food assistance in a single year from emergency food programs served by MANNA FoodBank.

That’s 1 in 6 of our WNC neighbors

  • 33,000 are children

  • 9,600 are elderly

  • Of all the households served by MANNA’s partner agencies, 75% face hunger. Of those households with children, 84% face hunger.

• Only 45% of the client households served by MANNA FoodBank receive Food and Nutrition Services benefits (formerly known as food stamps). It is likely that many more are eligible.
• Western North Carolinians seeking emergency food assistance often face tough choices between paying for food or other essentials such as fuel, housing, and healthcare.
• 36% of households seeking emergency food assistance do have at least one employed adult. Working people in Western North Carolina are struggling to make ends meet and while employed, many are underemployed, part time, or seasonal
NCPPA will provide a breakfast for the District that collects the most food items. Each $1 collected will count at 2 cans of food. Let’s all pull together and see who can collect the most and help a child or family not go hungry. Thank you for your participation and Happy Holidays!

Come out and see what NCPPA is all about!!!
This past holiday season Division IV took on the task of providing Christmas to a single parent family with a teenage daughter along with 20 children from the Hearts with Hands Christmas from the Heart project. In conjunction with several individuals who donated monies, NCCPA Division IV members shopped and delivered gifts for them all, so they could have a happy holiday. If you’ve still not joined the NCPPA please take a minute and do so.
